Scabbies

Were you looking for information about Scabies? Scabbies is a common misspelling of scabies.

Scabies is a common skin infection caused by an infestation with the microscopic mite Sarcoptes scabiei. It is spread by direct, prolonged, skin-to-skin contact with a person already infested. Symptoms of scabies usually begin with a minor rash and itching; scratching spreads the mites to other areas, causing scaling and redness, pimple-like irritations, and sores on the skin. Treatment involves certain prescription medications that kill the mites and eggs. Medicine can also be prescribed for the itching that may continue after the mites are killed.
