Skabies

Were you looking for information about Scabies? Skabies is a common misspelling of scabies.

Scabies is a skin infection caused by an infestation with a microscopic mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. It is transmitted through prolonged, skin-to-skin contact with an already infected individual. Symptoms usually begin with a minor rash and itching; the mites spread to other areas when you scratch, eventually leading to burrows, scaling, and sores on the skin. After making a scabies diagnosis, your healthcare provider will prescribe medications to kill the mites and eggs.
